Announcements:

• National ALD has announced that the University of South Carolina chapter has once again won the Order of the Torch(Outstanding ALD chapter in the nation). USC has won this award more than any other chapter.
• USC ALD is the largest chapter of ALD in the US inducting, year after year, over 1100 freshmen based on first semester’s g.p.a. of 3.5-4.0.  
• In 2010, National ALD announced that three USC sophomore ALD members earned National ALD scholarships. This is the 3rd year in a row for members to receive scholarships.
• In February 2011, USC ALD had a record membership of over 1250 new members!

ALD Meetings:

all Spring 2012 monthly chapter meetings are held on Mondays in the Russell House Theater, 4:30-5:30 pm,                                January 30, February 27, March 26, and April 16   ALD members will be reminded of chapter meeting dates/times via email.

August 16 (4-7 pm Russell House Patio) - Whiz Ring Games for new students                             
October 9 (4-6 pm) - Swim Meet/Aquatics Fun Events - BLATT PE Center Pool for all of USC  
October 28 (4:45-7:30 pm) - Beakers and Broomsticks - EdVenture Children's Museum
October 29 (8:45 am-1:00 pm) - Beakers and Broomsticks - Edventure Children's Museum                      
December 3 (7:30 am-4pm)- USC Challenge - SC High Schools academic teams competition                                                            
January - New members accepted - pay $35 (one time dues on-line following instructions in letter mailed to home adress)     February- welcome new members   (email sent to freshmen who earned GPA and registered on line)                                      March has a cleaning project, Clothing Drive March 13-15, hosting of USC Scholars and Admitted Student Days                             
April offers the United Way "Plane Pull" and election of officers from the new inductees and chapter financial awards

ALD In Action!

ALD takes place in several Intramural sports, including Volleyball (pictured above on the left). Also, we take pride in our many service projects including Move-In Crew (pictured above on the right).

USC Challenge and Monthly Meetings

Every year, ALD hosts the USC Challenge, which invites schools all around the state to take place in an academic quiz bowl which is pictured at the left.  We also take pride in our monthly meetings which offer different themes to all to enjoy, as seen on the right.
