Alpha Lambda Delta Minutes from September 25

SI/ Peer Tutoring is hiring students who got a B+ or better in Physics 201, 202, or Economics 221. The pay is approximately $10/ hour with a minimum of 6 hours a week of work (max 10 hours). Go to www.sa.sc.edu/ssc/tutoring.htm for more info!

Service Projects:
This past Saturday we painted the pillars in front of Blatt. We had an awesome turnout, and Blatt looks amazing!

On October 30, we are helping coordinate and supervise Hallawonka at Edventure Children's Museum. It will be from 5-8pm and we need 50 volunteers, so mark your calendars now! There will be a sign up sheet at our next meeting on October 23.

In an effort to clean up USC, we will be helping to clean up the Moore Garden behind Patterson on November 18, 19, and 20 from 10-3. Sign up for shifts the week before on Greene Street. Jobs include clearing out brush, trimming, painting, etc. Make sure to wear long sleeve shirts, closed toed shoes, and pants.

USC Challenge:
USC ALD will host the 19th annual SCHS academic team competition on Saturday, December 5, 2009. Vice President, Steven Nash is asking for anyone who has participated in academic quiz bowls to be moderators and help set up for the event.

Intermurals:
Come and be in an intramural team with ALD! You get a free ALD t-shirt for participating!
Football: Mondays @ 7:00 pm (We need more girls!)
Soccer: Mondays @ 8:00 pm (We need more girls!)
Volleyball: Wednesday @ 8:00 pm

Order of the Torch:
ALD is going for the Order of the Torch this year! The Order of the Torch is an award given to outstanding ALD chapters, and you can only submit an application every four years. Each chapter must submit a scrapbook describing their activities during the past year.

We want to know if you’re doing something cool! If you traveled over the summer, are working in a lab, have won a contest/ award, contact Bernadette Riemer, our Historian. We might want to highlight you in our application!

Alpha Lambda Delta Minutes from April 10th

The officer elections for next year were held Friday, April 10th and the following members were elected into the following positions:

Intramural Chair - Ryan Teel
Public Relations Chair - Molly Ruggere
Historian - Bernadette Riemer
Web Master - William Goodman

Financial awards were awarded to a dozen ALD officers and active members for their hard work this year.

UPS Plane Pull
ALD is co hosting the UPS Plane Pull for United Way with the Bodybuilding and Fitness Club. The date has been set for Saturday May 16 (9:00-11:00AM) and will be at the Columbia Metro Airport. If you have questions or are interested in volunteering, please email ALD at soald@mailbox.sc.edu.

“You Light Up USC Award”
The recipients of this year’s awards have been selected. If you nominated someone, please stop by the Orientation and Testing Office to pick up the gift basket and deliver it to the person you nominated. Also, look for the names of the recipients in The Daily Gamecock "Stress Buster" issue during exams.
