Officer Duties of Alpha Lambda Delta

President ______________________________________________________________
Leads overall management and leadership in organizational responsibilities, activities, and events; ensures all committee chairs, program chairs and officers receive the proper guidance and support to successfully complete their assignments and tasks in a timely manner; meets with advisors and other officers to plan events; leads by example.
Vice-President __________________________________________________________
Assumes lead role when the President is not available; chairs or works closely with chairpersons of activities and annual events, such as USC Challenge. As with other officers, welcomes new members and helps coordinate activities.
Secretary/Communications Officer _________________________________________
Assists the advisor in maintaining membership and participation records; helps disseminate information via e-mail or other communication methods to members; keeps records, such as the annual report, for the Order of the Torch. As with other officers, welcomes new members and helps coordinate activities.
Treasurer _______________________________________________________________
Collects membership dues and makes periodic deposits with the assistance of an advisor; keeps financial records with the advisor; attends the Student Government Treasurer Workshops at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters; plans student funding budgets, purchase orders, such as food for meetings and door prizes, and “signs off” on them. As with other officers, welcomes new members and helps coordinate activities.
Historian _______________________________________________________________
Maintains two copies of every photo, newspaper article, press release, event program, letter, and anything in print about an ALD member or event for chapter records and Outstanding Chapter nomination notebooks; helps organize and record chapter archives.
Intramural Chair _________________________________________________________
Checks with Campus Recreations Intramural Sports website to know what sports are available and the deadlines; notifies chapter members about participation; ensures all team entry forms are completed and team captains are selected.
Web Master ____________________________________________________________
Updates, designs and maintains the USC ALD website. Basic web design skills and interest are a must.
Officer Nomination
for
Office of Alpha Lambda Delta
All officers come from the new inductees (freshmen) and are elected to serve the sophomore or second year.
Self-nominations are the accepted standard for applying for any of the officer positions for Alpha Lambda Delta at USC. A typed one-page sheet is preferred. This page is to be e-mailed to ALD Advisor Harrison Greenlaw at HG@sc.edu or soald@mailbox.sc.edu or preferred, a signed and dated page is to be brought to 345 Russell House. Deadline for applying is announced at a March chapter meeting.
The page should include leadership/responsibility levels in high school and your freshman year at USC and detailing how you managed to maintain excellent grades and be involved in the activities you listed. Include your involvement plans for your sophomore year and confirm you will be available for the commitments as an officer of ALD. Candidates for president and vice president should have a minimum of 5 hours per week reserved for ALD realizing that several weeks each semester require over 10 hours for office duties. For other officers, a minimum of two hours per week is required, realizing that some weeks may need as much as 5-10 hours per week.
