ALD Awards

ALD National Scholarships & Awards

Each year the National Office of Alpha Lambda Delta awards one $7,500, eight $5,000, and fourteen $3,000 fellowships. These fellowships have been established to help qualified members obtain graduate or professional degrees. Candidates will be considered on the basis of merit. Deadline to apply is January 31st and application details can be viewed at nationalald.org.

Sophomore ALD members may apply for one of ten $3,000 and twenty-five $1,000 Jo Anne J. Trow Scholarships. Application forms are at nationalald.org, but are to be turned into USC Chapter Advisor Greenlaw in USC Orientation and Testing Office one month prior to the national date of April 1st. Large chapter, such as USC, may nominate up to three members for the Trow Scholarships. Grades and chapter involvement/service are the main criteria for selection.

USC ALD Chapter Awards

Financial Awards – the USC chapter awards checks to the most active and involved members each spring. Awards total between one and two thousand dollars.

Outstanding Senior(s) – National ALD provides one senior book award for chapters to give to a graduating senior. In many years, the USC chapter purchases more copies of the book to award to outstanding seniors in our chapter.

You Light Up USC Awards

Each year ALD members nominate outstanding and helpful faculty or staff to be considered for the You Light Up USC Awards. Up to twenty-five are selected each spring and awarded a “You Light Up USC” light by their nominee, plus names are highlighted in the Gamecock newspaper.
